Harry Thomas Porter, Private, 38th Battalion, Canadian Infantry, was killed in action at Vimy Ridge on 9 April 1917. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Vimy Memorial, France.
He was instantly killed by machine gun fire attacking south of Givenchy.
Sold with a copy photograph of the recipient in uniform, (several pictures are also on ancestry). Harry was born 8th Aug. 1896 at Toronto and was a Traveller by occupation and a pre-war member of the 36th Regiment of Militia. He attested on 3rd jan. 1916 at Toronto. He served in the 109th and 126th Battalions prior to the 38th Battalion.
